New Gear Porn from ProSound Workshop. This new video features the Greedtone Overdrive pedal, the bad boy that started it all.

Pretty cool.

Josh Homme recently puchased two Greedtone JHI-100 amplifiers with matching RG212 cabinets. (see Two Amps, Two Cabs, Two Weeks) in preparation for the Queens of The Stone Age tour.

Last night, QOTSA were the musical guest on David Letterman, and yes that's the JHI-100 behind Josh. Check it out.

On a Saturday, late in March of 2013, Greedtone founder Greg Williamson received a very exciting message from California. The message was a heads up. Josh Homme, the frontman of the bands Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures, had just played Greedtone's guitar amplifier, the J-Hi 100. Josh had fallen in love with it, and would be calling Greg very soon.

Josh said, "I love it. I need two amps and two cabinets, in two weeks, to start rehearsals for the next tour. Can you do it?" And Greg said, "Yeah, I'll make it happen."

Greg launched the campaign immediately to assemble the best team of personnel he could pull for the rush order. In three days, when the deal finalized, the group set out to make the order. It was intense. The shortest days were 12 hours. The longest days were 22. Then, while the glue between the bodies and red tolex that Josh requested was still drying, the team and amps and cabinets all headed south from Seattle. In a day and a half, we arrived in LA (two weeks to the day) and went directly to the Queens of the Stone Age studio.

After the amps were fired up, and Josh played through them for about 20 minutes, he handed the guitar off, turned to Greg with a big grin on his face, and said, “well, that’s going to work for me.” And the rest is history.

Greedtone owner and builder Greg Williamson will be in LA during the NAMM show to demo Greedtone pedals as well as the JHI-100 with it's matching 2x12 cab. No booth space, but willing to set up a demo with you. Email him at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to check out our amazing gear.

Greedtone was founded in 1992 by professional audio engineer Greg Williamson.  Greg's main goal was to solve two common problems not addressed by other overdrive and distortion pedal manufacturers.

"Most overdrive and distortion pedals just turn into white noise when you crank up the distortion, dropping the low end all together, and just throwing a buzz over your highs.", Greg says. "Second, if they have any low end at all, it's usually pretty darn sloppy."

Not one to settle, Greg set out on a relentless pursuit to achieve distortion pedal perfection. After years of tinkering, testing and research and lots of bugging his friend Jeremy Enigk from Sunny Day Real Estate, he created what is today known as the Greedtone Overdrive pedal.

Greg has toured with Foo Fighters, Mike Watt, The Presidents of the United States of America, Sunny Day Real Estate, The Fire Theft, and Augustana, to name a few.

Greg currently is living in Seattle, working on Greedtone and owns a Studio in Seattle called "The Kill Room". The Kill Room is full of Greedtone custom gear.
